Studio IV - Spring 2009 | Digital Arts School
Project Length - 9 Weeks
Focus - New Media High School

This 45,000 sq. ft. building, located on the corner of 5th South and 200 West, is designed for the creative students of tomorrow. With access to state-of-the-art digital processing labs and flexible collaborative spaces students will receive a truly unique education. This development is located near the heart of downtown Salt Lake City across from the Gateway Mall and the Bridges Project. With this in mind it was important to build with the concept of filtration. This concept allows the students and faculty to safely interact in a distraction free learning environment. The contrast of density to transparency gives the structure a unique lightness and air, allowing the concept to grow with the students from within the building. The school is also equipped with several LEED accredited features including a green roof play area, two load bearing thermal mass walls, and radiant floor heating.
